College and Career Readiness
Realizing the No Child Left Behind approach to educate our children is flawed. Our national leaders have decided a new approach focusing on College and Career Readiness.
College and Career Readiness is a key part of the Common Core State Standards Initiative sponsored by the National Governors Association and the Council of Chief State School Office to develop a common core of state k-12 English language and mathematics standards.
The initiative’s stated mission is to provide a consistent, clear understanding of what students are expected to learn, so teachers and parents know what they need to do to help them. The standards are designed to be robust and relevant to the real world, reflecting the knowledge and skills that our young people need for success in college and careers. With American students fully prepared for the future, our communities will be best positioned to compete successfully in the global economy
America First or Last Movement fully supports this initiative, but also understand this will take a grassroots effort to succeed. Knowing unless a high school student truly understands the connection between secondary education and their purpose, all efforts to keep them in school or increase their academic performances are cosmetic and temporary. So how can we help assist them in going about this process?
We’ve listed the fastest growing fields in the 21st century, according to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Plus, the type of academic skills, and experience needed on the road to those careers. Through our movement, we will try to link students to these fields early, in our national internship program.
